What we collect, what we don't, and how we protect you

The short version: We don't collect your name, email, or any personal information. We don't require you to create an account. The price history and calculator data you use stays in your own browser — it never leaves your device unless you clear your browser storage yourself.
1. What Information We Collect
LiveGoldRateToday is designed to work without collecting personal information. Here's exactly what happens when you use our site:
- No account registration: You never need to sign up or log in to use any feature on this site.
- No email addresses: We don't collect or store your email address anywhere.
- No phone numbers: The price alert form on our homepage stores your target price locally in your browser only. No phone numbers are transmitted to our servers.
- Standard web server logs: Like all websites, our hosting provider automatically logs basic technical information — your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and approximate location (country/city level). These logs are used only for security monitoring and fixing technical issues. They are automatically deleted after 30 days.
2. How We Use Your Browser Storage (localStorage)
To make the site work well without requiring an account, we store some data directly in your browser using a technology called localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us. Here's what we store:
- Today's gold price — cached for up to 8 hours so we don't make unnecessary API calls and your prices load instantly.
- Your 7-day price history — used only to calculate the "Is today a good day to buy?" signal. Stored as simple date-price pairs.
- Price alert target — if you set a price alert, the target price is saved in your browser only.
You can clear this data at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage (in your browser settings under "Site data" or "Cookies and site data").
3. Cookies and Advertising
We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on our site. This is how we keep the service free for everyone. Google AdSense uses cookies to show you relevant ads based on your browsing behaviour across the web.
You can control how Google uses your data for ad personalisation by visiting Google's Ad Settings. You can also opt out of personalised advertising through the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out tool.
We may also use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site in aggregate (which pages are popular, how long people stay, etc.). This data is anonymised and does not identify individual users.
4. Third-Party Services
To deliver our service, we use a small number of trusted third-party providers:
- GoldAPI.io — our primary gold price data provider. Your browser makes a direct API call to fetch live prices. Please review GoldAPI.io's privacy policy.
- Open Exchange Rates API — used for live USD/INR exchange rates.
- TradingView — we embed a TradingView price chart. TradingView may set its own cookies. See TradingView's privacy policy.
- Google Fonts — we load fonts from Google's CDN. Google may log this request. See Google's privacy policy.
- Google AdSense — used to serve advertisements. See Google's privacy policy above.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information with any third party for marketing purposes. Ever.
5. Data Security
Our website is served entirely over HTTPS (SSL/TLS encryption). This means all data exchanged between your browser and our servers is encrypted in transit.
Since we don't collect personal data, there is very little to protect on our end. The gold price data and your usage history lives in your own browser, under your own control.
6. Your Rights
Under Indian data protection laws and international standards, you have the right to:
- Know what data is held about you (in our case: essentially nothing beyond server logs)
- Request deletion of your data — server logs are auto-deleted after 30 days, or you can contact us to request earlier deletion
- Clear your browser's localStorage at any time to remove all locally stored gold price data

7. Children's Privacy
LiveGoldRateToday is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through our site, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. Changes to This Policy
If we make significant changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We recommend checking this page occasionally if you are a regular visitor.
